FORFAR HEIGHTS & REDHILL MARKET WALKING TOUR
Sat, 7 Jan 2023
9am to 11.30am

Forfar Heights, one of HDB’s later projects at Queenstown is a favoured location for many HDB real estate hunters. The value of this location plays a very important part on anyone’s wish list.

Not many of us notice it actually sits atop a little hill, and though some marvel at the English flavour of the garden below, not all of us know it is really Scottish.

The generation before us called this place “Lam Po Lay”, meaning blue glass – possibly because of the blue glass used on the earlier buildings.

This place carries a rich history around the enclave here – Dawson Road, Buller Terrace and Strathmore Avenue. Leng Kee Road is famously known as the car belt district. Most major car companies are here. We take a look at some of the reasons why they all congregate here.

Redhill Market, at the other end, is a short throw away. There is a reason why Redhill is named “Redhill” – from old grandmothers’ stories to mythology, to folk tales, and, the truth – we’ll try and reason them all.

We’ll all agree the satay bee hoon here at Redhill Market is worth queueing for. And you will decide if the chicken wings are really good enough for our PM.

We meet at 9am on Saturday, 7th January 2023 at Queenstown MRT. Upon alighting, take Exit B to your left and meet me at Taxi Stand F44.
