Welcome to Betong, Thailand “Free & Easy” Road Trip 2023. This tour will take you to the far north of Malaysia.

We exit the North-South Highway at Exit No. 143 (Kuala Kangsar) and go north to Pengkalan Hulu. From here, it is a short drive on Route 77 to the Thai border. This is Malaysia’s last frontier town before we drive into Thailand.

A 10-minute drive then brings you to Betong. Betong prides itself as the last station for many former Malayan communist guerrillas. Our optional tour ($99 per person) will take us to Piyamit Tunnel and some former fighting stations.

It will also include several highlights like the Betong Hot Spring at the small village of Sala. We will drive the Mongkolit Tunnel and also send a postcard home from the world’s biggest postbox.

We will also have the honour to meet and have our photograph taken with Miss Chang Li Li, a former guerrilla fighter now operating a rustic restaurant near Piyamit Tunnel. We will do lunch at her restaurant.

There is also a second optional morning tour to The Betong Sky Walk (Ay Ye Weng Sky Walk) on the 18th June 2023.
