BOAT QUAY & ELGIN BRIDGE NIGHT WALK
Sat, 18th May 2024
7pm to 9.30pm

Singapore, under the moon’s gentle glow, transforms into a mesmerizing man-made wonder. Amidst the glittering skyline, we’re embarking on a sightseeing adventure – exploring hidden gems that often go unnoticed.

*Boat Quay: This riverside gem where history dances with modernity, offers a glimpse of our heritage. During the 1800s, Boat Quay bustled with activity as goods were transferred onto cargo ships.

Conservation efforts by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in 1989 saw the shophouses preserved and repurposed into new businesses. Today, they stand as bustling establishments, preserving the area’s heritage.

*Elgin Bridge: An architectural marvel connecting heritage and progress, Elgin Bridge started life as a wooden drawbridge built in the 1820s. Then, In 1862, an iron bridge replaced the wooden one and was named Elgin Bridge after James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin, who had served as Governor-General of India. By 1929, the iron bridge made way for a new concrete bridge, which still stands today.

In 2019, it was gazetted as the 73rd National Monument of Singapore, alongside Anderson Bridge and Cavenagh Bridge – the iconic Singapore River Bridges.

And now, brace yourselves for the mysteries on this tour:-

*The Tang Shipwreck: Ever wondered why we paid millions for it? Let’s dive into this captivating tale.

*American Dinosaurs at Lee Kong Chian Museum: Yes, you read that right! Dinosaurs in Singapore? Let’s unravel the secrets of these fossilised giants.

Meeting Point: Raffles Place MRT (in front of The Arcade).
