Ever wondered what it’s like to be a Tourist Guide? In Singapore, earning that coveted tourist guide licence is no easy feat.
Becoming a guide can be physically demanding and requires extensive research, meaning you’ll need to do quite a bit of reading. But it’s not all hard work. With the right mindset, the journey can be both enjoyable and rewarding.
Once you’ve secured your licence, you can choose your own path – whether as a Nature Guide, Cultural Guide, Heritage Guide, or something else entirely. No matter which path you take, you might find that not everyone takes tourist guides seriously.
For many, a tourist guide is someone they meet only for the duration of the tour. But with the advent of digital technology, this is changing. Modern-day Tourist Guides can now stay connected with almost all tourists, whether they are incoming or outgoing.
For retired uncles and aunties, this can be an incredibly rewarding retirement career or hobby. For the young and the young at heart, it’s a fantastic way to spend your time and share your passion.
I invite you to meet me on Sat, 17th Aug 2024, at 9am at Dhoby Ghaut MRT. After alighting, take Exit B and head towards Orchard Road/Penang Road. I’ll be there at street level, easily recognisable by my Tourist Guide badge.
Together, we’ll navigate the ups and downs of the journey. We’ll use Fort Canning Park as our introduction, as it’s almost certain to be a favourite assessment site.
Join me for an insightful and engaging experience, and discover what it truly means to be a Tourist Guide.
