Step into a hidden chapter of Singapore’s past as we explore the captivating Mount Pleasant Road. This lesser-known gem has earned its stripes as one of our cherished “Heritage Roads” – a title reserved for the most enchanting thoroughfares.
*Mount Pleasant Road: A winding ribbon of history, this scenic route beckons both walkers and drivers. But beyond its rustic charm lies a tale of courage – the echoes of fierce World War II battles resonate along these very lanes.
*Black & White Mansions: Majestic and timeless, these stately homes stand as reminders of the once-mighty British Empire. Imagine the stories they hold within their walls.
*Senior Police Officers’ Mess (SPOM): At 153 Mount Pleasant Road, this historic building whispers secrets of bygone days. Breathe in the crisp air and soak in the soothing scenery here.
*Kopi Sua: Our short walk leads us to this intriguing spot. Why “Kopi Sua”? Some say it’s named after failed coffee plantations; others claim it’s the “brown-ish” soil colour. Either way, it’s a slice of tranquillity.
Meeting Point: Marymount MRT (Exit A, street level). Join us at 8:30 am on Vesak Day, 22nd May 2024. From there, we’ll hop on a bus to the junction of Mount Pleasant Road and Thomson Road – the gateway to our adventure.
Our journey concludes at the bus stop in front of Fun’s Florist along Thomson Road around 11:30am, perhaps 12pm. Let’s take a walk, explore and create unforgettable memories!
