Join your ole Uncle Chris for a fascinating walking tour of the National University of Singapore (NUS). While I may not delve into the current syllabus of Science, Technology, Mathematics, or the Humanities, we will explore the evolution of our educational system from past to the present.
There are good reasons why some travel agencies regularly tour our universities, much to the chagrin of NUS and NTU (Nanyang Technological University). Tourists often intrude on the school’s transport system and compete with students for lunch. Unlike these agencies, we won’t use their bus service or compete for lunch.
Our walking tour is a scenic journey through the history of NUS, highlighting what makes our universities so renowned in Asia and beyond. Securing a seat at NUS is no easy feat, and the hard work required is well-known – I saw my two daughters through NUS in the early 2000s.
We chose NUS for its friendlier approach to handling tourists, unlike NTU’s more restrictive stance.
Meeting Point: Clementi MRT, 9:00am, Sunday, 8th September 2024. The tour concludes at the Lee Kong Chian Museum around 11:00am or 11:30am.
After the tour, I recommend visiting the Lee Kong Chian Museum to marvel at the impressive dinosaur skeletons, which cost a staggering S$12 million! Or was it S$8 million? We’ll discuss the dinosaurs when we meet on 8th Sept 2024 at 9am. Don’t miss this opportunity!
