Queenstown is one of Singapore’s oldest residential estates, built by the Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT) as an attempt to house the growing population.
Our tour will begin at Queenstown MRT station and take us through some parts of Margaret Drive. Along the way, we’ll get a glimpse of the new skyscrapers built by the Housing Development Board (HDB). It is rumoured that the residents of these flats are being offered generous offers when it is time to resell.
Margaret Drive has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes it a great place to call home. We can deviate from the route and take the lift up to the highest floor for a bird’s eye view of the neighbourhood.
From there, we’ll take a little hike across to Ridout Road and explore the history and heritage of the Black & White mansions and other bungalows. Unlike the skyscrapers of Margaret Drive, Ridout Road and Pierce Road exude a sense of serenity and privacy. This is a walking tour that will take us through some of Singapore’s most coveted real estate, HDB or otherwise. Whether it’s a small HDB flat or a luxurious mansion, every property has a unique value and price.
We’ll meet on March 23, 2024 (Saturday) at 9:00 am at Queenstown MRT. After exiting at Exit B, go downstairs and meet me at Taxi Stand F44. I will be wearing a Tourist Guide badge. The tour will end at the junction of Holland Road and Pierce Road.
