QUEENSTOWN HERITAGE TRAIL: FORFAR HEIGHTS, DAWSON ROAD & MARGARET DRIVE
Sun, 15th Sept 2024
9am to 11.30am

Join us for a fascinating journey through one of Singapore’s oldest residential estates, Queenstown, built by the Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT) to house the growing population.

Today, Queenstown is rapidly evolving. Recently, a 5-room HDB flat near Dawson Road sold for an astonishing $1.7 million! On our tour, we’ll explore why this is happening.

Our route will take us through parts of Margaret Drive, where we’ll marvel at the new skyscrapers built by the Housing Development Board (HDB). It’s rumoured that residents of these flats receive generous offers when it’s time to resell. Margaret Drive has a unique charm that makes it feel homely and inviting.

If everyone agrees, we’ll take the lift to the highest floor for a bird’s eye view of the area. You’ll see how the neighbourhood embraces you like a baby. From there, we’ll hike to Ridout Road to experience a different kind of exclusivity.

Unlike the skyscrapers of Margaret Drive, Ridout Road (and nearby Pierce Road) offers an aura of serenity and privacy. We’ll trace the history and heritage of the Black & White mansions and other bungalows.

This walking tour showcases some of Singapore’s most coveted real estate, both HDB and private. Even a small HDB flat has its own value and charm!

Meeting Point: Queenstown MRT, Exit B, at 9:00am on Sunday, 15th September 2024. Look for me at Taxi Stand F44 with my Tourist Guide badge. The tour will end at the junction of Holland Road and Pierce Road.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the rich history and evolving landscape of Queenstown!
