Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to see, touch, and feel the rich history of Singapore. Your friendly guide, Uncle Chris, will transport you through time, from the early 1800s to the present day.

While the breathtaking sights are a fantastic bonus, this tour is packed with intriguing highlights. Our expedition begins at Scandal Point, an area that no longer exists. The land from this spot was repurposed as a landfill for the surrounding areas, where our path will lead us.

Once upon a time, Scandal Point was a hill, or perhaps a more suitable word would be “knoll.” Let your imagination run wild as we revisit the former Satay Club when life was simpler and full of charm.

From there, we’ll venture into the heart of Singapore City, where it all began on the 6th of February 1819 – although, truth be told, the indigenous Orang Lauts and Malays had already set foot here long before the British arrived.

Nevertheless, we can credit Sir Stamford Raffles and William Farquhar for putting Singapore on the world map.
We meet 9am (3rd Dec 2023), at Toastbox (ground floor) at The Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay.

The nearest MRT is Esplanade, (or you can also come by Citylink – City Hall MRT). This tour will end at Telok Ayer Street, exactly where many of our forefathers landed years ago… many penniless….
