Discover how Eng Hoon Street, once infamous as “Mistress Lane,” is now being revitalised and pedestrianised, blending its colourful past with a modern makeover.

As we wander through the conserved streets, you’ll feel the nostalgic charm of Tiong Bahru’s unique architecture and rustic atmosphere. But beneath its quaint façade lies a pressing question: will Blocks 18 to 28 along Tiong Bahru Road survive the test of time? These iconic blocks serve as the gateway to the enclave, and their potential demolition could forever alter the area’s character. For now, we’ll savour their old-world allure and reflect on what their loss might mean.

This tour begins at 9am at Tiong Bahru MRT Station, where we’ll meet at the Toastbox in the atrium. Over the course of three hours, we’ll explore the neighbourhood’s rich history, hidden stories, and evolving identity. The tour concludes around 12pm, just in time for you to enjoy a delicious lunch at the historic Tiong Bahru Market.
